Malahide Cricket Club are delighted to announce an innovative and unique partnership with charity Focus Ireland. The unique partnership will see the Focus Ireland brand appear on Malahide’s T20 jerseys for the 2017 Alan Murray Cup campaign, which begins this Saturday, 24th June.

Focus Ireland which raises awareness of the issues of homelessness, as well as providing support and vital advocacy services operates a Beloved shop in Malahide Village. It is believed that Malahide Cricket Club are the first cricket team in Ireland to promote a charity on their match jerseys.

Chair of Cricket at Malahide CC, Gary Stewart commented, “you see the likes of FC Barcelona having a charity partner, so we thought if it’s good enough for Barcelona it’s good enough for us. It’s a great charity and hopefully our little bit of support can make a positive impact.”

This Saturday sees the village host both Leinster and YMCA in a T20 bonanza with games starting at 11am, 2pm and 5pm. The day will also see a BBQ, fun games, challenges for fans as well as hard hitting cricket.

Angie Gibbons, Community Engagement rep at MCC said, “the idea is to use this cricket event to promote a worthy cause. We will be having bucket collections to raise money for Focus Ireland as well as a clothes drop. It’s a great opportunity to get rid of any un-needed belongings. There will be some fun games on the day for all the family to get involved with.”

The action kicks off at 11am with the bar open from midday.
