Somerset next up for Ireland Women

Ireland face Somerset in their next County Championships game

Somerset are next up for Ireland Women’s team in the ECB County Championships Division 2 on May 19th.

Two wins from two leaves Ireland in second place in the table behind Lancashire who have a better points average having claimed maximum bonus points.

Ireland’s opposition sit in third place with three wins from three but less average points than the two ahead of them. It will be a tough test for the team who will have to do without stalwarts Isobel and Cecelia Joyce who will be competing in the Eurohockey Club Trophy for Railway Union.

The Joyce sisters’ absence leaves room for a first call-up for exciting YMCA youngster Lucy O’Reilly, and Emma Flanagan has also been recalled to the squad.

Newly named vice-captain Mary Waldron will lead the side in the absence of usual captain Isobel Joyce but will have the experience of former captain Clare Shillington to aid her in the new role.
