A tough warm-up game against an experienced Bangladesh outfit on the surface, but Ireland Women will take away a number of positives and be able to take some areas of improvement into the next warm-up match.
The undoubted stand-out performer of the match was Kim Garth. The 22-year old all-rounder hit 34 runs from 35 balls in a critical rearguard innings with the bat, then claimed 3-4 from two overs.

A brief spark of batting positivity at the top of the order from 17-year old Gaby Lewis (15 runs from 13 balls; two fours) gave Ireland another peek at the potential of the batting side.

These two performances possibly underlined why Wisden Magazine recently rated Garth and Lewis in their top 25 world’s best young women cricketers.

The warm-up match also gave Head Coach Aaron Hamilton a chance to provide eight bowlers with some acclimatising match experience, which will be crucial at this ground as this will be the venue for all four of Ireland’s group stage matches.

Full scorecard available here.

Hamilton’s side will have a few days to regroup before they return to action against Sri Lanka Women in their second warm-up match on Wednesday.
