Ireland Women were on the wrong end of an seven run loss as they fell just short against Durham in a low scoring County Championship encounter.
Having lost the toss and asked to field, the Ireland bowlers put in a good performance with the ball restricting the home side to 125 all out from 45 overs.

Top of the performers with the ball was opening bowler and captain Kim Garth who picked up 3-13, while her opening partner’s, Amy Kenealy, 10 overs went for just 18 runs, including 3 maidens, for 1 wicket.

Elena Tice (2-30) and Lucy O’Reilly (2-16) took two wickets apiece, while there was a wicket each for Ciara Metcalfe and Laura Delany.

With the bat number five Glen was the standout batter for the home side hitting three boundaries in her knock of 30, while Coulson was the next highest scorer with an unbeaten 24.

Ireland’s chase got off to a poor start when Cecelia Joyce was out in the second over to Fenby without scoring.

Gaby Lewis looked in good touch scoring 27 before she too fell victim to Fenby.

Mary Waldron and Rachel Delaney (21) put on 37 for the 5th wicket to take Ireland to 101 and heading towards victory, but a flurry of wickets saw the visitors bowled out for 118, seven runs short. Mary Waldron finished 32 not out for Ireland.
