The National Cup Final, postponed last Sunday, will take place on Saturday September 9th at North County Cricket Club, with a 12pm start.
The match had been scheduled to take place in the North West at Bready CC but was washed out by heavy overnight rain. It will now take place in North County Dublin as Malahide and Terenure face-off.

The trophy will be staying in Dublin on Saturday evening but it’s not a straightforward decision as to where it will be.

Malahide were comprehensive semi-final winners over Derriaghy, where they bowled their opponents out quickly before openers Alan Reynolds and Danny O’Shea swept the team to a ten wicket victory.

Reynolds, Malahide’s captain, is looking forward to taking on Terenure in the final. “We as a club have been really looking forward to the day and are confident going in after how we have performed in this competition this year.

“Terenure will be a good test for us but I think if we can show up on the day and perform our skills hopefully the trophy will be returning to the Village,” he added.

One player who won’t be performing his skills on the day and will miss the game for Malahide is Irish international Peter Chase. Reynolds believes though that Malahide have had “good squad depth this season and have 11 lads we feel can do the job on the day.”

Terenure have reached the final having survived some epic matches along the way. They defeated Limerick in a super-over and beat defending National Cup champions Rush in a final over thriller at Kenure.

They also have plenty of experience in their ranks with Jeremy Bray likely to be leading the side, not to mention overseas player Givon Christian who has been in the runs of late.

The National Cup Final gets underway at 12pm at North County CC this Saturday, September 9th and it’s hard to pick a winner at this remove.
