With the Leaving Certificate drawing to a close and the CAO Change of Mind form due to be submitted by 1 July 2019, pupils will be looking forward to a good break before picking up a book again. But student cricketers will need to get one more thing done before 17 July if they want to apply for a Trinity Sports Scholarship for 2019-20.
Those applying will normally have demonstrated an outstanding sporting ability, which in cricketing terms in recent years has meant representing their province at the very least. The level of scholarship awarded will reflect the achievements of the student applying.

Some of those who have been honoured in recent years include full internationals George Dockrell and Lorcan Tucker, and youth representative players Max Neville and Sunil Gupta.

What you need to know

Minimum academic requirements must be met by all applicants. A college offer must be made and accepted in order to be eligible for scholarship. The scholarship has no influence on college offers or places and will not have any influence on CAO or entry requirements.

The scholarship scheme is not just for first-year students and is also open to current students both undergraduate and postgraduate.

The scholarship is awarded on an annual basis and all scholars must re-apply each academic year.
