Death of Ian Gourley

Cricket Ireland are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Ian Gourley this morning following a lengthy battle with illness.
Gourley (70), was a former long serving treasurer of the Irish Cricket Union, and also held posts as Northern Cricket Union Chairman (1994/5), and President (2008/9).

He started his club cricket with Cliftonville before moving to Woodvale in 1971, where he became Treasurer and Chairman following his retirement from club cricket.

Cricket Ireland President Arthur Vincent paid tribute to his former colleague saying: “Ian Gourley was a thorough gentleman who gave great voluntary service to the Irish Cricket Union for many years. He was very dedicated to his role and carried out his duties with the upmost professionalism. He was a fantastic ambassador for Irish cricket and I will miss his wonderful sense of humour and comradeship.”

Ian is survived by his wife Jennifer, son Stephen and daughters Helen and Claire.

Funeral arrangements are now confirmed for Thursday the 13th of December at the Greenisland Presbyterian Church.
