Newly appointed ICC President Alan Isaac will be in Dublin next week to meet Cricket Ireland chiefs. The trip comes just weeks after the visit of the now newly appointed CEO David Richardson, as Ireland are keen to show off their plans to grow the game and achieve full-member status.

It will be the first visit by Mr Isaac to an Associate member, who will be accompanied on the trip by the ICC Global Development Manager, Tim Anderson.

Both men will be taking in the highly anticipated Pepsi ICC WCL Championship ODI match between Ireland and Afghanistan on Tuesday July 3. The games are part of a qualifying process towards the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, in which Ireland are currently top of the table with five wins from six.

Ireland and Afghanistan have both qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in September following their thrilling final in the qualifiers in Dubai in March – rated by seasoned observers as the best match ever witnessed between two non-Test playing members of the ICC.

Alan Isaac and Tim Anderson will also be attending the Cricket Ireland Board meeting scheduled for July 4 to witness at first hand the remarkable work being carried out to develop and grow cricket.

Also on display during the visit will be the ICC World Twenty20 men’s trophy, and fans will get the opportunity to have their photographs taken with the iconic trophy.

Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom welcomed the planned visit saying: “It is an honour for us to welcome the ICC President to Ireland.

“It is terrific to have such a strong supporter of Associate Cricket in the ICC Presidency, and we are sure that Ireland and Afghanistan will serve up some high quality cricket as we did in our previous match in the final of the World T20 qualifier back in March. We are also pleased to have Alan attending our Board meeting, and we are certain to benefit from his insight and advice.”

Mr Isaac said of his forthcoming trip: “I am delighted to be visiting Ireland and very much looking forward to seeing at first-hand how Cricket Ireland are managing and developing the great game of cricket.

“This will be my first visit as President of the ICC to an Associate Member and I am excited to be able to see the top two non-Test playing countries, in Ireland and Afghanistan, play each other in the first of the two fourth-round ODI fixtures of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League at Clontarf, as well as meet with the various players and stakeholders in Ireland and hear about how the game is progressing.”

The games with Afghanistan come in the middle of a busy period of cricket for Ireland, having just played Australia, and ahead of a three game T20 series with Bangladesh and a month long tour by South Africa A.
