A number of international Irish cricketers were on hand last weekend to open the new Adamstown Community Centre. The centre boasts indoor cricket nets which we understand are one of the first in a local community centre in Ireland.
Kevin O’Brien, Kim Garth and Isobel Joyce – as well as visiting Australian cricketer, Celeste Raack (Hobart Hurricanes) – showcased their batting and bowling skills as part of a community open day to launch the new facility.

The two-storey centre contains a fully fitted sports hall, multi-purpose community meeting rooms, a fitness suite and associated kitchenette, toilets, storage area, changing areas and a reception.

Commenting on the new facility, Kevin said: “I was delighted to be asked to be part of the opening of this fantastic new facility here in Adamstown which offers this community and in particular, Adamstown Cricket Club the chance to improve their skills twelve months a year”.

This facility was made possible with the support of South Dublin County Council, the local cricket club Adamstown CC and the Cricket Leinster Cricket in the Community Development Officer Naomi Scott-Hayward.

Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Paul Gogarty, unveiled the plaque for the new centre along with local Fine Gael TD and former Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald and other local representatives on Saturday, 23rd June.
