Ireland’s Lara Maritz was last week selected for the ICC Women’s Global Development Squad. Below are the details, updates and scorecards of the tour.
The ICC Women’s Global Development Squad
The WGDS, launched in 2018, is an initiative that aims to provide the opportunity for high-performing players outside the ICC Women’s Championship to develop their skills, ensuring women’s cricket continues to go from strength to strength. Maritz becomes the fifth Irish player to be selected in the current WGDS programme, after Gaby Lewis, Shauna Kavanagh and Lucy O’Reilly (in 2018) and Celeste Raack (in 2019).

Match 1: WGDS v Melbourne Renegades/Melbourne Stars Combined XI
The WGDS batted first and scored 111 (not 115 as the last ball was a wicket, not a 4) and the Victorian Combined XI team were restricted to 99 runs. Lara claimed 2-17 with the ball.
The squad then went on a tour of the MCG and visited the T20 World Cup offices.
Match 2: WGDS v Adelaide Strikers
The Strikers batted first and scored 160-5, and then restricted the WGDS team to 105-6 in reply. Lara claimed 2-23 with the ball.
Match 3: WGDS v Melbourne Renegades/Melbourne Stars Combined XI
The Victoria side batted first and scored 132-5, and then restricted the WGDS team to 96-9 in reply. Lara claimed 1-18 with the ball and 4* with the bat.
