Lightning seek third Hanley Energy Trophy in a row

Back
Back

The Leinster Lightning host the North West Warriors on Friday night knowing that securing one point from the game will hand them the Hanley Energy T20 Trophy for the third year running.
The Lightning selectors have remained relatively consistent in their squads this summer but there is a recall for Sean Terry on this occasion. Terry is available again following a concussion early in the season.

As for the North West, Head Coach Ian McGregor is once again hampered by availability issues; Johnny Thompson, Gary McClintock, William McClintock and Andy Britton are all absent from the 12. This does give some of the squad members the chance to stake their claim however.

Captain Andy McBrine, fellow Irish International Craig Young and Strabane all-rounder Aaron Gillespie are all return alongside Irosh Samarasooriya. Graham Kennedy is back in as well as the Ballyspallen teenager prepares to head away on Ireland under-19 world cup duty.

Aaron Heywood of Fox Lodge has been rewarded for some really good domestic performances with inclusion in the squad.

If the Lightning get the point they need on Friday, they will wrap up another title with a game to spare. However the Warriors will be hoping to spring a surprise and take the race into the final round of matches next month.

A great evening of T20 cricket awaits in Merrion one way or the other.
