Toyota Super 3s season begins with a T20 tripleheader

DUBLIN – The Toyota Super 3s Series – Ireland’s premier women’s domestic competition – will begin this Sunday with a bang, as the sides shape up for a T20 tripleheader at North Kildare Cricket Club.
The matches are:

• Scorchers v Dragons (19 May 2019, starting 10am)
• Typhoons v Scorchers (19 May 2019, starting 1.30pm)
• Dragons v Typhoons (19 May 2019, starting 5pm)

The matches represent the last representative hit-out for the women’s international players before Ireland meets West Indies in three T20Is on 26, 28 and 29 May 2019.

The Dragons are the reigning Toyota Super 3s champions.

Dragons team news

Clare Shillington, Head Coach of the Dragons, said:

“There have been a lot of changes within the Super 3s squads over the winter, including my coaching roll changing from the Typhoons to the Dragons. We have a young but balanced squad with some exciting talent coming through the Irish U15 and U19s winter training programs, mixed with the experience of Mary Waldron, Kim Garth and Kerry Tomlinson. It’s an exciting summer of cricket and we are looking forward to hitting the ground running on Sunday in North Kildare.”

The Dragons have named a 13-player squad for the two matches: Kim Garth (capt), Ava Canning, Rachel Delaney, Anna Kerrison, Jane Maguire, Lara Maritz, Eimear Mullen, Clare Shillington, Jenny Sparrow, Kerry Tomlinson (overseas), Erica Turner, Mary Waldron, Sarah White.

Scorchers team news

Andrew Poynter, Scorchers Head Coach, said:

“The new look Scorchers squad is really looking forward to starting the 2019 season. We have had a couple of good training sessions at the High Performance Centre and the whole squad has been working hard on their game over the winter, either abroad on in North County with various Irish squads. We are looking to start the season well and certainly aiming to get two wins on the board in North Kildare on Sunday to get the season off to a positive start.”

The Scorchers side for Sunday is: Shauna Kavanagh (capt), Gaby Lewis, Rebbeca Stokell, Caoimhe McCann, Sophie MacMahon, Lucy O’Reilly, Cara Murray, Amy Kenealy, Hannah Little, Ali Keenan, Mya Naughton.

Tim Simmonite, Head Coach of the Typhoone, said:

“I’m really looking forward to this season’s Super 3s. The Typhoons have a young and exciting squad, we’ve trained well and are now relishing the challenge of pitting our skills against those of the Dragons and the Scorchers.”

The Typhoons’ 12 for the first match v Scorchers is: Laura Delany (capt), Amy Hunter, Naomi Matthews, Celeste Raack, Orla Prendergast, Louise Little, Leah Paul, Una Raymond-Hoey, Niamh Walsh, Cassie Stephens, Robyn Lewis, Maria Kerrison (12th).

The Typhoons’ 12 for the second match v Dragons is: Laura Delany (capt), Amy Hunter, Naomi Matthews, Celeste Raack, Orla Prendergast, Louise Little, Leah Paul, Una Raymond-Hoey, Niamh Walsh, Cassie Stephens, Maria Kerrison, Sarah Condron (12th).
