Ireland Wolves conceded their lead on day two on their first-class game match with Bangladesh A in Sylhet today, with the hosts finishing up on 322 for 6 after another hot and humid day in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh A resumed on 38-1 after facing 13 overs at the end of day one, still more than 200 runs behind Ireland’s first day total thanks to Simi Singh’s century.

Bangadesh A dominated the morning session, with captain Nazmul Shanto and Shadman Islam both making half centuries before the lunch break as Ireland struggled to find a way through and ended the morning session without a wicket.

The chance to freshen up seemed to make big difference with Stuart Thompson picking up the wicket of Shanto for 69 almost immediately after the re-start, before taking a catch to dismiss Al-Amin Hossain for 0 off the bowling of Andrew McBrine.

The double blow seemed to have no impact on Shadman though, as the 22 year-old pushed on to get his third first-class century. Bangladesh we on their way to evening up the second session, but the dismissal of Yasir Ali for 35 thanks to a brilliant leg side catch from Stuart Poynter meant Ireland Wolves definitely took the session.

Shadman showed no signs of giving his wicket away until Ireland took the new ball, when Andrew McBrine had the left-hander caught out on the line at deep-square with just the second over of the new ball, giving Ireland renewed vigour going into the final 90 minutes of the day.

It was Bangladesh A that took control in that final period though, with Nural Hasan making an as yet unbeaten half century before the close of play. A brilliant catch from Andrew Balbirnie to dismiss Mahedi for 35 the only blip in the Bangladeshi efforts.
